Turkish actor Kerem Bürsin is at the heart of controversy on Saudi Twitter

The Turkish actor Kerem Bürsin found himself at the heart of controversy on Saudi Twitter. A hashtag has emerged in Saudi Arabia against him.

The hashtag #kerembuersincancel was launched after the Turkish actor liked the post of a civil rights activist against crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman

A quick reminder of the story 👇

In this post, the civil rights activist criticized the visit of the U.S. president to Saudi Arabia by recalling the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

As a reminder, the journalist Kamel Khashoggi was murdered in 2018 in the Saudi Arabian embassy in Istanbul. The investigation conducted at the time by Turkey directly implicates Saudi Arabia in this murder. Saudi Arabia had denied any involvement in the facts.

A report of the American intelligence made public in 2021 had then concluded a direct link with the crown prince.

It should be noted that during his presidential campaign, the American president directly targeted the Crown Prince by having very harsh words.

The current conflict between Russia and Ukraine has shuffled the cards. In the current geopolitical context, the place of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is essential.

The OPEC countries and at their head Saudi Arabia represent a crucial issue in the crisis of hydrocarbons that European countries and more generally non-oil producing countries are experiencing.

This is why President Biden went to Saudi Arabia yesterday to discuss with Prince Mohammed Ben Salmane.

The president who had previously criticized the crown prince had to finally go to the country the symbolism is significant, in the sense that it is the American president who had to move. (Unlike Joe Biden, the relationship with President Donald Trump was rather good)

This visit of the American president has caused a lot of ink to flow and Western journalists and other human rights defenders have not failed to recall the murder of the journalist.

It is in this context that the Turkish actor #kerembuersin has liked the post of a human rights defender.

Kerem Bürsin then apologized on Twitter explaining that he had just by mistake liked the tweet.

This was not enough to calm things down and to the hashtag, #kerembuersincancel was added a second hashtag in Arabic

And you what do you think about this ?
